Fourth sin: Poor connectors weaken your argument

Fourth sin: poor connectors weaken your argument 🚫💪🖋️

As we’ve seen in the previous sins, lawyers often write lengthy sentences with very short paragraphs due to poor punctuation. This undoubtedly complicates text comprehension as the structure and clarity are flawed, affecting the proper development of arguments. 📚💬😅 But if that weren’t enough for the reader, there’s an additional burden: the constant use of connectors to construct paragraphs 🤔.

According to Diego López Medina, lawyers, to meet this false belief, use “trash connectors, true crutches” that don’t provide a genuine logical connection in the text. As a result, they unnecessarily overload or inflate the text, thereby reducing its power. 🚫🔄💬 According to the professor, these trash connectors often appear at the beginning of each paragraph and are repeated within it 😓. What a drain.

Remember that the choice of connectors aims to express ideas precisely and avoid ambiguities to enhance comprehension. In that sense, it’s essential to select connectors that truly enhance or empower the text. This facilitates text comprehension by establishing logical relationships and improving coherence to guide the reader 🧠. Therefore, it’s unnecessary for every paragraph to start with a connector, let alone use it when it doesn’t aim to clarify the text💡.

✨ The mantra I want you to remember to integrate this as a principle is: “by using trash connectors, I don’t add precision to the text, I burden the reader, and I weaken my argument.” 😌 ✨

📝🤓 In collaboration with WOW Legal Experience, we have integrated these principles to develop empathetic and creative solutions to the challenges faced by the legal and judicial context. We are proud to offer our support to improve legal writing and promote clarity in legal communication! 👩‍⚖️👨‍⚖️
